A New Baby For Christmas was just reviewed by book reviewer Ellie Firestone, five stars! Here’s what she had to say:
I was worried that this book wouldn’t live up to the standard of the previous Layla book (Layla Learns to be Brave), but I’m very pleased to say that it did. The chapters are just the right length for emerging readers, the story is brilliant, and, as ever, the illustrations are just adorable.
Layla’s character reminds me a lot of my own sister when she was little — quirky, mischievous, and a bit stubborn. She even keeps a “list of things to tell the new baby”, which includes things like “Dad makes the best pancakes” and “Mema gives us chewing gum”…
In short, I think this book would make a delightful read for young children, especially at Christmas time, even if they haven’t read the first book yet.
Please note: as Ellie states in her full review, this book is a prequel to the first book in the series.
